What is osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic form of medical therapy that views the human body as a single entity. It is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal itself when all structures -bones, muscles, nerves, and organs  - work together optimally.

Osteopaths use only their hands to detect functional disorders and treat them using gentle techniques. The focus is not only on the area of pain, but also on the underlying causes.

The aim is to restore the body's natural balance and activate its self-healing powers.

An osteopath gently palpates the ribs of a lying male patient to detect tension and restricted movement.

Typical symptoms in osteopathic practice

Why Osteopathy

Our body is a finely tuned interplay of muscles, joints, organs, fasciae, and the nervous system. If this balance is disrupted -whether through stress, poor posture, injuries, or internal tensions - this can lead to complaints that do not always manifest themselves at the original site.

This is exactly where osteopathy comes in:

It considers the person as a whole and uses trained hands to search for the causes behind the symptoms. The aim is to release movement restrictions, reduce tension and activate the body's own self-healing powers.

The focus is not only on treatment, but also on understanding:

How are complaints related?

Which structures influence each other?

In a trusting conversation and individual treatment, a holistic approach is developed that focuses on the person - not just their symptoms.

Whether for support with specific complaints or for prevention, osteopathy offers space for mindful bodywork and lasting health.

Who is osteopathy suitable for

Osteopathy is aimed at people of all ages – from infants to the elderly.

The treatment is individually tailored and based on the possibilities and needs of the respective body.

Typical patient groups are:

  • Adults with physical complaints such as tension, pain or restricted movement – be it due to work, sport or everyday stress.

  • Children and adolescents , for example with poor posture, functional disorders or after growth phases.

  • Infants , for example with breastfeeding problems, restlessness, colic or after a difficult birth.

  • People with chronic complaints for which no clear cause has been found by conventional medicine.

  • Patients in the recovery phase , e.g. after operations or injuries, as supplementary support to medical treatment.

Because osteopathy works holistically, the focus is always on the whole person - not just a single symptom. We would be happy to discuss in a personal consultation whether osteopathic treatment is appropriate for your situation.
